Timeless villa in classic modernist style, Cala Vadella / Ibiza

The two-storey house with a western orientation is situated on the hill along Cala Vadella on a site of approximately 1,850 m². Commissioned by an Ibizan client, it was built between 1986 and 1989 as a family summer residence in the style of classical modernism. The planning was elaborated with in-depth design considerations by the architects Javier Ferrandiz and Xumeu Mestre; the thus created timeless appearance is still evident today and conveys an epochal spatial experience. Visual axes and architectural details generate a special feeling of space. The design quality of this villa has been documented in publications.

The approx. 100 m² of living space, with terraces and balconies adding approx. 86 m², are distributed over two floors, which at ground level accommodate three bedrooms and two bathrooms, all of which face west and have floor-to-ceiling French doors with direct access to the garden terrace and pool.

On the upper floor is the living room (with an open fireplace) with dining area and kitchen leading to an adjoining terrace, which provides access to the roof terrace via a stairway. The pool terrace can be reached directly from the living area upstairs via a delicate steel stairway.

The rooftop terrace, which is accessible from the terrace on the first floor via comfortable steps, affords a panoramic view and has a brick-built bench that invites to linger. The well-considered construction with bedrooms on the ground floor eliminates the need for air conditioning. Upstairs, wooden shutters protect the living area from the sun and create subtle shadow plays.

The clearly structured building is surrounded by pine trees with a fine scent. Terraces around the house offer a variety of places to relax, including the pool area with elevated outdoor seating accommodations to the west and a barbecue terrace facing east.
